Golden rush in Beauce

Did you know that the Beauce placer property was the site of Canada’s first gold rush in the 1850’s years before the Klondike gold rush? Since last year, Uragold Bay, a company that specializes in mining, conducted a drilling at Saint-Simon-Les-Mines.

First, Uragold Bay was formerly a company that specialized in research for uranium. However they changed to gold because of the market. I don’t know if you have seen last year’s helicopters flying over the area with their great ring to detect magnetism. After this research, they have begun working at Saint-Simon-Les-Mines, in the same area as the gold rush in the 1850’s.They also began working along the ‘riviere du loup’ in Saint Georges and in ‘Estrie’. In the next month, heavy equipment arrived to start serious work of sampling in the sub-sedimentary layer and the rock above. Before, the dredge was installed at that place, the company was limited to drill surface only. Then, I think that Uragold Bay could not have reached a significant layer of sediment at that time. After, the next month’s excavation will be decisive for the site. If their researches are conclusive, Uragold Bay will ask for an operating permit.

Furthermore, Genivar, one of the most important Canadian consulting engineering firm, has done environmental study. Mining gold do not requires chemical operation. They only use water pressure and centrifuge machinery to extract gold. This site is very easy to access and requests little work to develop. Uragold Bay suspects that the origin of the gold will be there with the sampling taken last year. This sampling showed the presence of gold in great quantity and they hope to find the quantity of gold they need to make the most of the area.

In conclusion, did you now that the largest gold nuggets were found in this region. I think that the project is good because it’s going to create lots of jobs and is going to keep the economy going in Beauce. This company firmly believes in the success of this project. I believe in Beauce we have lots of natural resources so why not use them.
