The Snitch

The detective sergeant of Montreal Police Department (SPVM), Ian Davidson was suspected of tempting to sell the police informant’s name to the Montreal mafia. Therefore, he suicided Wednesday morning in a Laval hotel.

The detective sergeant Davidson, who combined 33 year experience, worked in the Montreal intelligence police force. He tried to sell a list agents’ sources’ names to Tony Mucci, an influent member of the Montreal mob, in exchange for one million dollars. The police officer from the SPVM, who had retired from the police in January 2011, was the target of an investigation since April. Ian Davidson was arrested in October, at the Montreal-Trudeau airport. He was leaving the country for Costa Rica. It is a wire tape that would have helped discover that Ian Davidson wanted to provide information to the Mafia. The police officers had discovered this information while Davidson was still working for the SPVM.

When he tried to sell this information to the mob, he had already retired. The name list, counted some 2000 names of agents’ informants.

The SPVM advised Davidson when he was arrested that his life was in danger. Ian Davidson cut his throat in a hotel room in Laval Wednesday. The paramedics found his bloody body in Chateauneuf hotel on the edge of highway 15. The police confirmed that it was a suicide. In my opinion, I think that Ian Davidson suicided because he had suffered from Mob intimidation.
